Siddhartha,

Do you have a few more details like the versions of CS3 suite you plan to package, like Design Premium or Web Standard, or individual "point products" like just Illustrator, Dreamweaver, or Photoshop?

I am in the process of making packs for Design Premium and Web Standard. I know that JAMF has been in contact with Adobe regarding how best to deal with the software...it's not cool by any means.

Basically what we plan to do is install both the Design Premium and Web Standard suites on a single machine, fire off each application at least once, license them appropriately, and then take the single large pack (which is really really big) and break out individual APP pieces. So you'll have one very large Adobe required package (as we call it) that you have to install if you want any of the applications/suites.

That's the suites. If you want to do individual point products you either have to package all of those together at once and break them out similarly to the suite APPs, or create individual packages for each one. If I remember correctly you CAN NOT mix point product packages because of how the installer updates the application database. If you install one application and want another you basically have to install by hand to make it update the database correctly instead of overwriting it.

I guess I wouldn't quote me on all of that, but that's what I can recall based on previous conversations and what I'm working on. If I get my large pack working I'll be sure to post tomorrow.

Hope that sheds some light. Bottom line...Adobe didn't think much about it...
