[Casper] offline policy..

We use policies quite heavily here, but nothing in conjunction with Self
Service. For instance I have a policy that coresponds to a hidden
template for our student account. Basically every time the machine
reboots whether or not it's on the network this hidden template dittos
over the students preferences folder. Of course with some of the
improvements ahead in 7 I don't think it's going to be as needed. In
any case it works well for us.
However if you make something in self service available off line
what is it you hope to achieve? If it's off line it won't be able to
download packages or anything?
Making a policy available off line should cache the info, but I don't
know that it will cache a package for use with self service, perhaps
someone else can answer that. I know it caches stuff like our policy
that under the advanced tab has a command. But I don't know if it
pre-caches packages that are tied to the policy

Subject: [Casper] offline policy..
Perhaps I'm jumping the gun on asking this but I need a quick answer.
Is anyone using ongoing polices that are made available offline? I need
to be able to give my users access to a Self Service policy when they're
at home and not on our network. Am I understanding what the Make
Available Offline option really means?
