[Casper] question about policies with cached pkgs

So, if I want to cache a certain package out to all my clients, and then install from cache, but at the same time I want pre and post shell scripts to run, how exactly does this work? 

I haven't used package caching too much and from what I gather is I would have to make 2 policies.  1 to cache the package, and then one to run scripts and install from cache? 

If anyone has done this before could you please confirm it for me?  I am going to test it out but am currently stuck rebuilding LDAP after a server issue so I won't have time to test it till probably the week after next.
