Job Title: BIOLOGIST A DCL
Department of Wildlife & Fisheries - Wildlife

Incumbent will be responsible for the departmentâs nuisance/urban wildlife program.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
⢠Coordinates issuance of Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator and Wildlife Rehabilitation permits including reporting and monitoring.
⢠Provides technical assistance to the public regarding nuisance, injured and orphaned wildlife including public presentations, brochures and handouts.
⢠Will provide the public with urban/backyard wildlife information including public presentations, brochures and handouts.
⢠Will assist with nuisance black bear response including education, capture and chemical immobilization.
⢠Will be involved with research activities, including reporting, journal submission and article reviews.
Ideal candidate will have experience with nuisance wildlife control techniques including direct physical restraint and chemical immobilization.
This position may be filled as a new hire into a probationary position, or as a promotional opportunity for a current, permanent employee. Probationary appointee will be required to complete a probationary period of at least 6 months, not to exceed 24 months. A current, permanent State employee may be required to resign their permanent position, and complete a probationary period at the discretion of the Appointing Authority; however the promotional pay increase will still be considered
This job is a Dual Career Ladder job and as such the person selected must pass a drug screen, have a two year average of Exceeds Requirements (3.50) or Outstanding (4.50) for the most recent Performance Planning and Reviews and have not received a disciplinary action in the preceding three (3) years. Such documentation may include performance evaluation materials, letters of recommendation or other supporting documentation.
This job also has an additional supplemental qualification which must be met to be considered. That supplemental qualification is:
Three years of professional level experience, one of which was at or above the advanced journeyman level, working with any of the following: non-game nuisance wildlife, wildlife population surveys, terrestrial-wildlife habitat development, and management of research projects and/or wildlife regulations development.
